    The Well

    ~Video Version~

    ******************************

Are things going well for you today?  May I encourage you to keep drinking from the Well?

Things not going well?  Dig a well!

In our worship service this past week we looked at the story of Isaac digging wells (Genesis 26).  He faced opposition, the Philistines plugged up some of the wells and stole others, robbing them of good water.  Isaac was a peacemaker and just dug more wells.  And God blessed Him with fresh water.

After worship a friend shared that she was thinking about the value of digging wells even before we get thirsty.  That’s a great thought.  If you wait until you are thirsty, it might be a lot harder getting to the water.

If you are already drinking deeply from a well you’ve already established, you have quick access to fresh water when things are not going well.  You know where to go when you get thirsty.  You know how to access living water that flows in and through you.

As Jesus said, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.  Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

Things going well?  Keep drinking from the well, even before you get thirsty.

Things not going well?  Run to the well.  Run to the wellspring of God’s heart.

And dig some new wells---whether things are going well or not.

That’s what I’m thinking about today.
