Laughing UP

    ~Video Version~

I’m thinking about Psalm 126:2----“Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.  Then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’”

The people were laughing and singing.  It was contagious.  The expressions of joy sparked something in the world around them.  THEN it was said “among the nations,”  “The Lord has done great things.”

Laughter is one of the “great things” God gives us.  Joyful laughter is really good if it is connected with God and is flowing out of the joy He brings to us.  Joyful laughter lifts us up, it lifts others up, and it lifts up the glory of God.

Something noteworthy here….the Psalmist wrote, “OUR” mouths were filled with laughter, “our” tongues with songs of joy.   There is something glorious about joyful laughter in community with others.

Laughter takes relationships deeper. Victor Borge said, “Laughter is the shortest distance between two people.    It is very difficult to remain angry at someone who makes you laugh.  It’s hard to remain sad around a person who makes you giggle.  It’s extremely difficult to hold a grudge against a person who brings a smile to your face.  It is almost impossible to stay frightened if you are with a person who causes you to chuckle.  Laughter is a tie that binds hearts together.

I pray that God blesses you with a few happy moments today.
