“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
God wants us to experience the infinite pleasures that come with His presence. Little moments of delight that present us with opportunity for real pleasures. Pure pleasures.
Like what? One is mentioned in Psalm 16, the “fullness of joy.” With that, I believe, is joyful laughter. That’s what I’m thinking about today---and I am so thankful to have joyful friends and be part of a church family that is full of joy. I’m thankful to have people in my life who are real and honest about the struggles of life, the hardships, the darkness…and yet serious about finding reasons for gratitude and moments of joy that even flow over into laughter.
The Bible doesn’t use the word laughter a lot, and we don’t have a lot of examples where it’s obvious that Jesus laughed. I was curious about that once and a friend said, “Well, maybe laughter isn’t talked about a lot in the Bible because it’s something God wants us to discover.”
Life is hard. In the midst of this day, I pray that a little joyful laughter is something you discover. I pray that you have one of those joyful moments that overflows into a little laughter. Maybe that moment will even surprise you.
