Beauty in Diversity

I think God loves variety. I believe He enjoys diversity. Look at creation. Look at people and their styles, personalities, and gifts.
I came across this verse today:
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)
I’m remembering a fishing trip to Minnesota a few years ago where we ended up catching representatives of nearly all the primary fish types in the lake. We caught sunfish, bluegills, bass, walleyes, perch, rock bass, crappies, northern pike, and even a bullhead. They were each unique in shape, style, and color. It was a gift of diversity for me, I can still picture the colorful assortment of different fish. It was a lot of fun.
I believe God enjoys bringing in a mixture as He fishes for people in building His Kingdom. I think diversity in churches brings Him pleasure.
Revelation 7:9 expresses it, “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.”
What about you? You are unique and different from anyone else. I hope that brings you as much pleasure as I think it does God.
Diversity with Christ-centered unity builds true community. It is also fun.
